“Rickenbacker 660-12 TP Tom Petty”No.15 of 1,000 in Fireglofinish, built in 1991, includingoriginal case and certificate.
The instrument shown here is available for sale!
Special feature:
This is one of only 15 Rickenbacker 660/12 TP Limited Edition guitars ever built.
The body and neck are truly crafted from stunning bird's-eye maple. The photos shown here can only partially capture its beauty.
The front body binding is the exclusive "Checkerboard binding," which is reserved for Rickenbacker's top-of-the-line models.
The Rickenbacker 660 has a wider fretboard than any other Rickenbacker model (except for the 650, 1993+), which makes it much more comfortable to play, especially for a 12-string guitar.
This wide fretboard was crafted according to Tom Petty's specifications.
Furthermore, this guitar is one of the few Rickenbacker models to feature a 12-piece bridge, meaning that the intonation can be adjusted separately for each of the 12 strings. Generally speaking, 12-string Rickenbacker guitars come standard with a 6-piece bridge.
This guitar sounds exactly as you'd expect from a 12-string Rickenbacker with pickups. Jingle-jangle at its best.
The guitar plays very well and has fantastic string action.
