In Zusammenarbeit mit Peter Townend endstand das Modell Rickenbacker 1993 Plus.
Das Instrument hat einen breiteren Hals als gewöhnliche Rickenbacker Gitarren, was sie für viele deutlich spielbarer macht.
Besonders gravierend ist die Bauweise des Korpus: Diese Gitarre besitzt innen das sogenannte „X-Bracing“. Moderne Rickenbacker Instrumente haben einen „Sustain-Block“.
Thanks to the X-bracing, the guitar is significantly louder when played unamplified than instruments with a sustain block.
Verbaut sind ab Werk drei Rickenbacker Longpole Toaster die einen wirklich amtlichen Rickenbacker Sound liefern.
